Frequently Asked Questions
What services does your company provide?
We are an advocate for each client as they try to navigate through the maze of elder care. This could include anything from finding the right assisted living, nursing home or home health agency, helping clients understand how to use their insurance policy correctly or visiting them on a scheduled basis to make sure they are comfortable, happy and safe.
What is your background?
Our team consists of elder care consultants who have served as nursing home administrators, assisted living administrators, gerontology college instructors, nurses, money managers, financial advisors, accountants and attorneys.
How are you paid?
We accept private pay and are reimbursed by most long term care insurance providers.
Are you insured?
We have insurance specifically tailored to cover financial and care management services. We also work with accountants and financial advisors to ensure each client is protected.
What geographic areas do you cover?
We are available for on-site consulting for your individual needs in any location. Our team is based in Charlotte NC, but we cover the entire country. We accomplish this by telephonic care management with periodic visits tailored to each client. We specialize in a personal approach to individual care needs and financial limitations. We screen and conduct a comprehensive interview for each of the recommended care providers in our client’s area to help find the right fit to meet the clinical and emotional needs.
I don't have anyone to be my power of attorney. What should I do?
We offer power of attorney services which are drafted and reviewed by you and your attorney. If you do not have an attorney, we will find one for you. Each document will meet the regulations of your state. The form will be tailored to carry out your financial and healthcare wishes with the thoroughness to detail that you instruct.
I have dementia; can I still assign someone from your company to be my power of attorney?
Our goal is to protect each client and respect their needs and wishes. We offer several options for each client. Before any power of attorney is assigned, we consult with each client’s doctor to understand the level of diagnosis and to determine if a power of attorney is the best option. If a power of attorney is not appropriate, your wishes for advocacy can still be executed through guardianship services. This is a more comprehensive representation in which we will work with client’s attorney and the local court system to ensure each client has the proper care.
How can I get a list of long term care options in my area?
Elder Options will create a list of options in your city covering nursing home, assisted living home and home care companies for a nominal charge. Upgraded lists are available covering rates, ratings, and other detailed information. For those living in Mecklenburg county North Carolina, a list of long term care services is available on the Home Page for a small fee that can be paid online through Paypal.
